Frequently Asked Questions

What is Bowenwork™?
Bowen Technique is a neuromuscular and connective tissue modality that affects the joints, muscles, nerves, fluids and energy of the body. The technique was developed in Australia in the 1950’s by Tom Bowen and is now taught in more than 20 countries and practiced in over 45. Considered a medical protocol in Europe, it is rapidly becoming popular in America.

What does Bowenwork™ feel like?
It uses specific sequences of short, gentle rolling motions of the thumbs or forefingers over precise points on the body. Each series of movements is followed by “quiet periods” that allow the body to integrate each stage of the work.

How long is a Bowenwork™ session and how many are necessary?
Sessions last from 30 minutes up to an hour, including the moves and deeply relaxing “quiet periods”. Each case varies, but Bowen therapy is quite effective within 3 to 8 sessions spaced about a week apart.

What makes Bowenwork™ different from other therapies?
Bowen technique is distinguished by its effectiveness over a very short number of sessions. It does not hurt and can bring permanent relief rapidly. The client is clothed, no oil is used.

What does Bowenwork™ do to speed healing and reduce pain?
This technique stimulates your body’s innate healing capacity and triggers your body’s intelligence to initiate or speed up self repair. It helps your body remember how to restore structural integrity, repairs and relieves musculo-skeletal pain, improves nervous system function, facilitates better blood and lymph flow and enhances overall health.

What is Bowenwork™ used for?
For helping people seeking pain relief, injury recovery, stress reduction, enhanced sports and work performance, along with health and wellness maintenance, it has a very high success rate.

What makes Bowenwork™ economical?
Due to its emphasis on results, Bowen therapy helps clients return to and sustain optimal levels of health faster, easier and with fewer sessions, leading to a savings of time and money.

For what age range is Bowenwork™ effective?
All ages respond well, from newborn to elderly.

Why is Bowenwork™ so successful?
Bowenwork™ corrects the body by balancing the autonomic nervous system, which is responsible for controlling over 90% of what goes on in our bodies. If the cause is not addressed, the symptoms return again and again.
